Sleeping Beauty En Pointe

Towards the beginning of March, I received a Living Social email with a deal for discounted tickets to Minneapolis Academy of Ballet featuring: Sleeping Beauty!  For me, it was a no brainer deal...book now!

The day finally arrived (Callie was getting very impatient-as she would say) for us to head up to the cities for this fabulous performance.  I figured Callie would enjoy it, because 1. she loves dance, 2. she loves music, 3. she LOVES Sleeping Beauty!

I did show her a few YouTube videos so she knew what to expect of the show!  No talking, just dancing and music, and we have to be quiet!

When kids start getting big, we stop taking pictures of their sweet feet; however, look at these beauties...She has adorable little feet!

This is the director, who later, my mom and I believe he never made it big in Ballet so he decided to start this academy of ballet and he stars in all the shows...it's kind of like a "Glee" performance where the teacher always joins in!  He was kind of creepy weird...

During the performance, Callie got out of her chair and started dancing along with the "fairies"...she was mimicking their every move!  My mom and I looked at each other and both teared up!

This is during intermission, but SO cute :)

We weren't allowed to take pictures, but I figured I would take them at the end anyway - we need the memories :)

King & Queen

Fairies

Not really sure where these two fit into the story, but they were fabulous dancers!

Our personal favorite: Malificent!  She was AMAZING!  Very talented dancer, absolutely beautiful and so graceful!  She was so fun to watch :)

The cast :)

Sleeping Beauty & Prince Phillip (who is the director..see, told you it's weird)...

Callie had an amazing time.  The show ran over 2 hours long - close to 3 hours actually, and Callie sat and paid attention the ENTIRE time...she only got antsy once and was going to color on the floor (we were sitting in the front & center)...but that lasted literally 5 seconds before she was back up watching the show!

We went to my mom & dad's afterwards and my dad was dancing with Callie the whole night :)  He was acting like Prince Phillip, kissing Sleeping Beauty (played by Callie) to wake her up!  Then he transformed into the Beast from Beauty & the Beast...per request by "Belle" - also played by Callie :)

This little actress is always in character and anyone around her must play along...I can't wait to see what her future holds for her!  For now, I'm going to enjoy watching her light up as she follows along to the beautifully danced ballet: Sleeping Beauty!
